‘FANTOOMWIJK’ (2023)
A lively Rotterdam neighborhood is being replaced by luxury homes. Various cameras, including infrared and drones, vividly capture the destructive consequences for the former residents of Tweebosbuurt. The Tweebosbuurt in Rotterdam was demolished to make way for upscale residences, forcing the original inhabitants out of their homes. By employing different types of cameras, the viewer alternates between opposing perspectives - that of the system and those affected by it. In this manner, the film gives a voice to the displaced residents of a once vibrant neighborhood, shedding light on the global issue of gentrification in major cities.
